Surprising Development: Auburn Stuns Nation with 2026 QB Flip in Bold Recruiting Coup

In a surprising development, Auburn football has secured a quarterback for its 2026 recruiting class.

On Thursday, On3 Recruits’ Hayes Fawcett announced via X that four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone had flipped his commitment from Penn State to Auburn. A native of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Falzone initially committed to the Nittany Lions in early April but received an offer from Auburn earlier this month. Now, in an unexpected turn, he’s pledged to the Tigers.Nazareth Academy quarterback Peyton Falzone, right, watches warm ups with Bellefontaine quarterback Tavien St. Clair prior to the NCAA football game against the Indiana Hoosiers at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.Falzone is ranked No. 183 overall and No. 11 among quarterbacks in the 2026 class by 247Sports, as well as the No. 4 recruit in Pennsylvania. While committed to Penn State, he took official visits to Utah, Iowa, and Penn State earlier this spring.

According to Auburn Undercover, Falzone has put up impressive numbers over the last two high school seasons—4,663 passing yards, 42 passing touchdowns, 1,137 rushing yards, and 19 rushing scores. He’s thrown just eight interceptions and has a completion rate of 57 percent.

The commitment is a much-needed win for Auburn’s recruiting efforts, which have taken a hit recently with the loss of three recruits to nearby programs. With a quarterback now in the fold, Auburn may gain momentum moving forward. The Tigers’ 2026 class currently features seven commits and is ranked 77th nationally.
