TRADE ALERT: Tigers officially confirms an astonishing Deal for a Top talented prospect Amidst top contenders.

Former Auburn Tigers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker K.J. Britt has signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. After completing his rookie deal, Britt chose to explore free agency before landing in Miami. The move takes him further south within Florida. While the financial terms of his contract have not been revealed, it’s likely a “prove-it” deal for the former Auburn standout.

Interestingly, Britt’s former team, the Buccaneers, signed ex-Dolphins linebacker Anthony Walker around the same time, essentially creating an informal swap between the two teams. The former Auburn LB was part of an unofficial swap between two Florida NFL teamsBritt played four seasons at Auburn, starting in two of them. Over 42 college games, he racked up 119 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble. A thumb injury limited him to just two games during his senior year, yet he was still selected in the fifth round (176th overall) by Tampa Bay in the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his four seasons with the Buccaneers, Britt worked his way up to a starting role last year, playing next to veteran star Lavonte David. In the 2023 season, Britt appeared in 14 games and started 11, recording 72 tackles, two tackles for loss, a half-sack, and a pass deflection. Overall, he’s played in 59 NFL games, starting 15 of them, and has totaled 126 tackles, four tackles for loss, three pass deflections, and 0.5 sack in his pro career.

Britt’s move to Miami coincided closely with Walker’s arrival in Tampa, making it feel like a de facto trade. Walker also signed a one-year deal with undisclosed terms and will now team up with Lavonte David, who re-signed for his 14th season with the Bucs.
