According to an ESPN source, a surprising NFL blockbuster trade involving wide receiver Jalin Hyatt could take place this month. Reports suggest that Hyatt may be on the trade block, with the Jets emerging as a potential suitor, given his limited opportunities last season.
A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee standout began his career with the Giants two seasons ago. In his rookie year, he recorded 23 receptions for 373 yards over 17 games, starting in just seven. While it may seem unusual for the Giants to move on from Hyatt as he enters his third season in September, he previously hinted at a possible trade last offseason.Hyatt was reportedly unhappy with his role in New York, though the Giants managed to keep him on board to see if things would improve. New quarterback Russell Wilson has spoken positively about the young receiver, but the Giants could still decide to trade him before they even play together. Though it’s hard to picture Hyatt in a different uniform, the Jets are in need of receivers after parting ways with Davante Adams. Additionally, they won’t be the only team eyeing him during the draft, as at least five other teams could see him as a strong fit.
The Chiefs will soon need to consider the long-term outlook of their wide receiver group. While Marquise Brown is coming back, his contract is only for one year. Assuming no further legal issues arise, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice appear to be the team’s future at the position. Although Jalin Hyatt has struggled with rust over the past two seasons, he could bring new energy to Kansas City’s offense once Brown departs.
